Fiji Fishing Accommodation

Fiji Islands is surrounded by the aquamarine and blue South Pacific Ocean and the marine life is bountiful. A huge variety of species can be found, with world class fishing in pristine locations. Various types of fishing can be found, such as river, beach, inner lagoon, outer reef and also deep sea fishing. Professional and experienced operators provide excellent trips for anglers at all levels. Dynamic big game angling is popular for serious fishing folk, and fly fishing is also available. Although good fishing can be had year round, possibly the best seasons for most species occur in the drier months of April to November. The exception is barracuda, Tanguige and Giant Trevally, whose best season is in February. The exact time depends on which species. Visitors to Fiji Islands will find various opportunities for fish adventures.

Where to Stay

• Many resorts throughout Fiji offer fishing trips, usually handline, or sport or game fishing, suitable from novices right through to serious anglers! This means that no matter where you stay, you will most likely find an option on the activities available list.
• Fly fishing is available in the central part of the Yasawa group of islands. The operator is called Fly Fish Fiji and though not supplying accommodation themselves, they can recommend different options to suit any budget on Tavewa, Nanuya Lailai etc.
• Kadavu Island and Beqa Island in the southern region of Fiji are both adventure destinations with excellent fishing opportunities. On Kadavu consider Matava Resort, for example, who have over twenty Fiji Fishing records! They have a 'tag &aMP; release' policy on billfish and a 'catch & release' policy on all other species. They do, however, take home dinner where the cooks at Matava are pleased to prepare your catch for the dinner plate.
• Pacific Harbour on the mainland is a well-known fishing destination, with operators Xtasea Charters running boat trips out to the Beqa reef. Game fishing tournaments are also held here annually. Accommodation from budget right through to luxury is available here. Budget options include The Uprising Resort and Tsulu Backpackers, luxury is found at The Pearl South Pacific, and the Lagoon Resort offers medium tariff ranges.
• In the northern islands of Fiji, the top fishing destination is Savusavu, a picturesque natural bay with sheltered marina providing mooring for fishing boats. Like Pacific Harbour, accommodation is available from budget (Hot Springs Hotel) right through to luxury resorts (Namale, Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort, and Lomalagi Resort). Vacation rentals and modest bure accommodation is also possible in and around Savusavu.
• Taveuni is another great fishing destination and fishing operators there work with all the resorts and accommodation operators, providing guests with excellent fishing adventures in the rich waters of the Somosomo Strait and beyond.
