Honeymoon Accommodation
When it comes to honeymoons, couples look for accommodation that is romantic, special spot that is more than just a place to stay. For many years, the beautiful islands of Fiji have beckoned lovers. They enjoy a balmy tropical climate, have beautiful blue lagoons and white sand beaches, smiling friendly Fijians who will go out of their way to welcome you to this perfect honeymoon destination. Since Fiji is so honeymoon-friendly, it is no wonder that a great deal of choice in accommodation is found when it comes to just that right blend of romance and exoticism.
Types of Fiji honeymoon accommodation
- If your budget allows, there are many luxury resort destinations with special honeymoon bures, treetop bures or treehouses. These are usually separated from the other bures to give privacy. Typically you will find an outdoor as well as an indoor shower. Sometimes there will also be a delightful al fresco pool, spa or jacuzzi. If you have never bathed or showered outdoors, then you will enjoy this exhilarating experience, surrounded by exotic tropical flowers, and with the sun and palms overhead, or the moon and the stars. The bures are usually spacious, with king-sized bed and romantic fittings such as mosquito or fabric canopies. It is usually possible to have private candlelit dinners served right at your bure or on your outdoor verandah. Islands to check out include Taveuni, Qamea, Toberua, Vatulele, Royal Davui, Beqa, the exclusive Wakaya Club, Turtle Island, Yasawa Island, Navutu Stars (also in the Yasawas), and Vomo. There are also many beautiful resorts in the Mamanuca Island group. (Top photo credit: Likuliku Lagoon couples-only resort in the Mamanucas).
- Perhaps you would like to awake each day to a different and wonderful view. In this case, consider accommodated cruising. There are several cruise options in Fiji including Blue Lagoon Cruises, Captain Cook Cruises, or the Tui Tai Adventure Cruises. The first two offer different itineraries and mostly cruise the beautiful Yasawa islands. Occasionally they run longer cruises that also take in the northern islands. The Tui Tai cruises in the north and offers romantic itineraries that combine pampered massages along with exciting adventure activities and travelling to remote islands and reefs.
- If 5-star hotels are more to your liking, with ample choice of pools, restaurants and bars, and access to golfing, tennis and island day cruises, then the international brand hotels on Denarau island in Nadi may be what you are looking for. These include the Sheraton, Sofitel, Westin, Hilton and Radisson who offer enticing all-inclusive honeymoon packages. Accommodation is well-appointed, with modern bathrooms and amenities, along with mini bars, room service and all the other romantic extras that one associates with a well-run hotel.
- Budget a bit limited? Not to fear, there are some good alternatives in the budget range, especially the smaller resorts in the Yasawa islands. Though these may lack in state of the art room fittings, haute cuisine and luxury day spas, you will enjoy the fun of a traditional Fijian bure, the taste of fresh local vegetables, fruit, meats and seafood, massages on the beach, romantic sunsets and the same genuine warmth and friendship of the Fijian staff.
