Island Holiday Accommodation

Since Fiji is made up of over 330 islands, then all accommodation could be classed as 'island accommodation'. However, it is generally understood that this kind of stay is not on the larger mainland island of Viti Levu but on the smaller outer islands of Fiji. One of the most popular island groups, and located within sight of the mainland at Nadi, is known as the Mamanucas. The group comprises many white sand beach encircled islets, picturesquely dotted in the blue ocean, and island accommodation here primarily consists of honeymoon resorts, family resorts and the occasional budget option. On a clear day, of which there are many in Fiji!, one can also see the more distant islands known as the Yasawas. Generally the islands here are larger and accommodation is more diverse but not numerous, ranging from budget resorts through to 5-star exclusive retreats.

The northern islands of Taveuni, Qamea and Matangi are known for romantic resorts for honeymooners and wedding couples. Being an adventure destination also you will find many dive resorts on Taveuni as well as the hotel style Garden Island Resort. Budget accommodation in the form of camping and bures is also available on Taveuni, as are vacation rentals and luxury villas. Savusavu on the neighbouring larger island of Vanua Levu offers a hotel, budget lodgings, vacation rentals, villas and several luxury resorts.

Kadavu Island in the south is more remote and known more for adventure resorts than luxury getaways. Beqa Island is similar. Nearby Vatulele offers luxury resort and villa accommodation. In Lomaiviti, the spaced-apart islands of Namenalala, Naigani, and Toberua are single resort accommodation destinations. Wakaya Island features the exclusive luxury Wakaya Club resort. Ovalau - whose quaint colonial style main town of Levuka was once the capital of Fiji - offers more modestly priced accommodation. Nananu-i-Ra island off the northern tip of the main island close to Bligh Waters includes a few budget beach resorts, a dive resorts, a dive and surfing lodge, and one upmarket villa style resort.
