Resort Accommodation in the Yasawa Islands

The Yasawas is the name given to a beautiful chain of islands in Fiji's dry western region. These stretch northwards from a point between the Mamanucas and Lautoka on the mainland. In spite of their natural beauty of white sand beaches, blue lagoons and fringing coral reefs, they are amazingly uncommercialised. Accommodation ranges from a number of locally-owned backpacker and budget resorts through to several 5-star luxury resort options. The middle range used to be hard to find, but there are now several resorts from which to choose. The main activity for travellers holidaying in the region is based in and around the ocean. Snorkelling, swimming, kayaking, fishing and scuba diving are popular pastimes. Relaxing on the beach or lazing in a hammock strung between two palm trees provides an idyllic way of letting go of the stresses of daily life, and visiting a local Fijian village is a must-do. At some locations horseriding is possible, as is swimming with manta rays (seasonal). The Sawa-i-Lau caves (featured in the Blue Lagoon movie) is a natural scenic attraction found between the island of Yasawa and Nacula.
